Sister Arab Unions
The Arab joint-action ecosystem
The Arab Union for Energy & Minerals joins a longstanding ecosystem of specialized Arab federations operating under the League of Arab States (founded 1945, headquartered in Cairo, with 22 member states). The Council of Arab Economic Unity — established by a 1957 agreement that entered into force in 1964 — oversees specialized professional federations, while the Forum of Specialized Arab Federations (established in late 2017 under the patronage of the League's Secretary-General) brings together more than 40 Arab unions.
